Trainfest 2004 in Milwaukee tomorrow!
Posted by techguy57 on Friday, November 12, 2004 1:06 PM
This may have already been discussed but I went to Trainfest last year and had a great time. Other modelers like myself would enjoy it most but there is definitely something for everyone! I can't wait to make the drive from Chicago!

I'm going tomorrow morning as soon as they'll let me in. Anyone else here planning to go?

Went last year; can't make it this year. Sure was a lot of cool stuff there, from modelling to real trains. Well worth a two hour drive.

BTW- for out-of-towners: it's at State Fair Park, 84th & Greenfield, about 1 mile south of the UP Milwaukee Subdivision line.

I was there as well. Many great layouts to look at as well as lots of goodies for sale. I found going to Bulter Yard(UP) afterwords to be more rewarding. There were over 20 units present at the time...the most I have ever seen there. An SP Patch, new flag loco, a few LLPX's, a FURX, countless UP GP38-2's and an ex-tunnel motor. That yard was sure busy for a Saturday. I was there in a Jeff Gordon Flame jacket w/hat...I saw two others wearing the same jacket but I was the young one, the other were quite a bit older than me.

I made it on Saturday. I was even able to use it as an excuse to ride the train from St. Cloud.

Hey Z, you got your Milwaukee rail lines mixed up -- that's the Canadian Pacific mainline that's a mile north of SFP, the UP Milwaukee Sub is about 1/2 mile to the south.

I missed Trainfest this year -- just too much to do at home. (Too bad I missed ya again, Chris!) Maybe next year I'll have a little more time to spare...

I was there on saturday as mentioned before and had a great time once again this year. I liked that Kalmbach had so many people there, but was sad that Bergie and Mike weren't there (at least I didn't see either of them.

Glue finger- I remember seeing you. I other the other hand was a bit more incognito, marroon baseball jersey with Longview written across the front.

All in all, a great time at a great event ! Even got some great goodies to boot!

Mike

Fuzzy,

What a DUH I am. You are correct. But what I meant to say that the Trainfest was one mile NORTH of the UP tracks; I forgot about the CP main.

My apologies to anyone that got misdirected by my error.
