NS pictorial of the expansion.  Reminds one of KP's picture story.

99 slides, 16.5 MB electronic file size in this 'PDF' format, from the (NS-sponsored ?) "Connections for Growth - Bellevue, Ohio" 2014 Financial Analyst and Investor's Conference on Sept. 22-23, 2014.

Looks very interesting, but I need more time here in the office to be able to finish looking at all of it . . . Smile, Wink & Grin

Very Nice - They did a good job with the aerial photographs.

I like the diamond crossover on slide 68.

The diamond crossing is in a couple more slides, IIRC.

3-way Lap turnout at Slide 73, too !

Thank you for sharing. Is the expansion now in service?

Evidently not officially in service. No item in News portion of NS website.

In fact I am sure NS is using various pieces as they become available, perhaps even rerouteing trains and modifying blocking. I suspect will have an official opening when it is about 99% done.

Thanks. Had not heard anything either.

Quick anecdote: Over the summer I was tasked with a high-value move from upstate New York to Colorado via Kansas City. Originally NS was going to send it via Elkhart. I asked 'why Elkhart?' as that seemed out of the way. "Well where would you send it?" Before I could answer someone else said, "Elkhart is the mother yard; everything goes through Elkhart." Ultimitely it did not go via Elkhart and hopfully an expanded Bellevue will ease Elkhart and the rest of the system.

As a shareholder and a railfan, I found this very interesting. RR's don't make money while cars sit in yards. But this looks like they are consolidating and blocking in a manor to reduce the number of yards some trains go through and makes for more mainlining and less yard time. Would have liked to have the text for the presentation to go with the slides. Anybody know if it's available?

Back before 611 was retired, I rode two Independence Limited trips the Roanoke NRHS chapter ran from the Alexandria and Richmond starts to the Chicago and Detroit ends. NS track was in Class four or five shape. Leaving Bellevue for Ft Wayne, we were rolling at >70 mph (time between MP's = 51 sec.) and the cars rode with NO motion or jostling between the cars. I have never been on a train that didn't have some.

Anyhow, NS seems like it does know what it's doing.
