But as far as I know, the MM&A was fully apprised of the situation from the very start. Even before the fire started to flame, the cab driver told the engineer that the locomotive was making an unusually large amount of smoke. Apparently, that smoke is what started to burn. But I do not see any reason that the fire department should have assumed any responsibility for guarding the train or bear fault for the runaway. </span></div>
