But it was a wild and exciting time in those teenage years of railroading in the 1880-1900 period.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva;font-size:small;">The best book on the topic of this thread that I have seen is <span style="text-decoration:underline;">The American Railroad Freight Car</span> by John H. White, Jr. The diversity of rolling stock in the pioneering era is astounding.</span></p>
