Whatever happened to the Pan American Railway Committee?

Business prospects were rosy according the Committee's 1906 report. Much of the network was already in place. Fill in the gaps and connect the Western Hemisphere's two great continents. Great things would follow.

1906...Orville and Wilbur still had sand in their shoes and the jet age wasn't part of anybody's lexicon nor was a trip to the moon, by man, was as much a fairy tale as the proverbial jumping cow. Malaria worked against mankind as much as the cross isthmus canal. The Alaska and Argentina RR just never had a chance.

If my memory serves me correctly, the Darien Gap still doesn't have a highway running through it.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul
