The Fostoria report.
Posted by Junctionfan on Tuesday, October 19, 2004 8:05 AM
I have been starting to listen to a live audio stream from F tower mostly and found it very interesting.

I think I'll give you guys some reports on what I have heard about.

For so far, this morning I heard that there was a fire on an Amtrak last night near Sandusky, OH so a bunch of them are stacked up and being dispatched as an X train. All times are givin in eastern standard time.

CSX is doing maintainace on the Colombus Sub near the B&O yard.

Heard dispatch talking to NS 286 (Fostoria to Cleveland Collingwood) at 7:40am, Q151 (Cleveland to Detroit TV) at 7:15am, Q634 (Russell KY to Willard OH), and Q164 (Chicago 59th Street to South Kearny NJ).

Also interesting is that the one extra Amtrak I heard was called X76 and I heard dispatch talking to him at 7:50am.

Last night I heard G846 (Garrett IN to Rocky Mount NC) at 11:18pm, Q387 (Buffalo NY to Chicago Proviso) at 11:19pm, Q243 (Detroit to Corbin KY) at 11:24pm, Q339 (Willard OH to Cincinnati OH) at 11:27pm, Q117 (Boston to Chicago TOFC) at 11:30pm, Q340 (Cincinnati OH to Willard OH) at 11:30pm, Q272 (Louisville KY to Detroit) at 11:36pm, Q381 (Willard OH to McCook IL) at 11:37pm, NS 289 (Bellevue OH to Fostoria) at 11:41pm, Q245 (Detroit to Jacksonville FL) at 11:45pm, Q288 (Chicago Blue Island to Marysville OH) at 11:47pm, and Q222 (Walbridge OH (Toledo) to Cleveland OH) at 11:51pm.

Very busy night for auto traffic.

I need to get a discriminator for my computer so I can accurately track the trains using ATCS monitor. Does anybody know how much that costs and where can you get one for a reasonable cost?

Hey, can you guys fill me in on how to listen in?

I found the website awhile back, but due to my technology challenges, I was unable to hear anything.

What needs to be done to access this? What is the website?

thanks,

ed

If you go to Fostorialive yahoo group, you can join which I did for that reason, and then you can get into the links page. The great thing is that the guy who runs the site is also on the yahoo forum so asking any technical questions will either get answered by him or the others. I am using Winramp right now but you can also use RealPlayer to listen in.

Andrew Be really careful with Realplayer-

Its a dangerous tool, it brings ADS in on your computer and is unstable.

Wait till your constantly reminded to UPGRADE

Ya, I don't use real player at all. Winramp is a good program at least is safer and more convienient when window's media player isn't good enough. Quick time is also good too.

yeah, I am scanner intensive these days. It is a tough habit to break. Everytime I hear something (about every minute or so) I stop and listen.

You certainly hear some interesting stuff tho.

What I like is listening to how dispatchers and crews work out situations.

Fortunately both the NS and CSX call signals, so you know what train is coming.

CP now calls all signals in this area as well, neat to hear, you always know where they are.

It's a little confusing sometimes when I listen to Fostoria because sometimes I here what is going on in Toledo Walbridge so I think that the train is coming when it's only an autoplant local.
