Two Minimalist Shots
Posted by CopCarSS on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 12:53 PM

Hey Gang,

I've been experimenting with some different styles lately. I've got some more crazy wide shots to share soon, but today I thought I'd post something a little different. Below, please find two minimalist shots that I shot recently. While the shots lack the punch of some of my work, my hope is that there's a good story to be told with these simpler images. Thoughts, comments and critiques would certainly be welcome on these:

I love the second shot. B&W really works well.

Thank you for sharing,

The crossing shot is great, but I really like the glove shot - true creativity!

Being a photographer by trade I know the difficulty in making a square photograph...so I have a lot of respect for the second image. I enjoyed both!

The crossing shot must be from somewhere on the eastern plains of Colorado; where please?

I thought of Michner and his classic story of Colorado - Centenial. This is the kind of scene he would have dramatized if he had written about the railroad migration across the plains.

Thanks, all!

Second shot is a little south of Buchanan on the BNSF Angora Sub.

Two titles come to mind…

My Fathers Gloves,

And

Two Roads to Follow.

Both photos could lead to interesting stories.

"Second shot is a little south of Buchanan on the BNSF Angora Sub."

Ah!, my instincts were correct. This is the region where Michner conducted much research when preparing to write Centenial.

I like them both for different reasons!  Good job, Chris.  You hit a nerve again.
