Railway Newsletters
Posted by Doc Murdock on Sunday, May 26, 2013 1:11 PM

One of my hobbies is writing and I've written up a small number of articles on railways that I want to get published.Does anyone here know of any rail newsletters I could contact? Does anyone know the email contact for John Harwood of The Flagstop and Paul Crozier-Smith of The Callboard? Thanks.

Many of the newsletters are a function of historical societies, often free to members and maybe available by subscription to others...but they don't buy stories and news instead relying on members to donate or the staff of the publication to create.  And if you have any of those publications, especially the one's you mentioned, then you have the contact information on the masthead or somewhere else in the publication.  Any others you can Bing, Google, Ask, or otherwise search for on line.  Both Kalmbach and Carstens offer guidleines on their websites for how to make submissions.  Same with other publications.

RIDEWITHMEHENRY is the name for our almost monthly day of riding trains and transit in either the NYCity or Philadelphia areas including all commuter lines, Amtrak, subways, light rail and trolleys, bus and ferries when warranted. No fees, just let us know you want to join the ride and pay your fares. Ask to be on our email list or find us on FB as RIDEWITHMEHENRY (all caps) to get descriptions of each outing.

I've contributed to rail stories to the two above newsletters in years gone by. I sent John Harwood an email last week but it bounced back. I don't expect payment for these articles.
