Okay, what is holding us back?

In a word, cost. A few years ago I looked into installing a solar electric array on the roof. It's an investment with the risks and rewards just like any investment. In the end I did not pull the trigger. Why? Cost. At the current and projected cost of electricity it would take at least twenty years to amortize.

Some of you feel you are being gouged by the energy sector. I'm sorry you feel that way. But please remember: this is a business, we do this to make money. Our job (or former job) is to maximize the profit and dividend for the shareholders. This means we are going to extract as much money out of your collective pockets as possible without destroying the market. This is the "free market" which applies to gasoline as much as to iPods.

If you don't like it ask yourself this question: Who was it that required all of us to be subjugated to a transportation system that can "gouge" all of us because of circumstances and events on the other side the world?
