Tropicana Orange Juice Cars Visit SEMO!!!
Posted by UPTRAIN on Tuesday, September 14, 2004 7:55 PM
Today 9-14-04 an eastbound CSX intermodal train on the UP passed through Poplar Bluff, Missouri. But this wasn't any old ordinary train!!! The first four cars were Tropicana Juice cars!!! These are the first cars of this type that I have EVER seen in this area. Here are the pictures that I took... http://www.trainweb.org/semorails/2004photos14.html . I hope you enjoy as this was a very rare treat. Who else has seen/sees these cars where don't normally seem to belong?

Perhaps those Tropicana cars were more refugees from the Florida hurricanes. I see quite a few UP-CSX moves operating Memphis-Nashville. I hear that 20-30 daily trains run Nashville-Atlanta via the old Rebel Route.

With Terrible Ivan approaching the gulf coast, perhaps those cars should stay put for a while. I've seen reports of I-75 going slow to Chattanooga, with quite a few campers here in Nashville or over in the Smokies.
Ya'all be safe & careful with all these bad storms on the loose!

Their was recently a post regarding these cars. Their is also a Trains article that is very informative. They have another distribution center somewhere in the midwest. I though that it was in Ohio though. I have seen these cars headed up that way through Atlanta, Georgia. However, they were usually in bigger blocks headed north. Then they trickled back in smaller groups.

I saw mostly orange and thought that they were staying with that. I did see a bunch of leased white ones, but they did not say Tropicana like the pictured unigs.
