Spsf plan

I know that the spsf seemed plausable enough at the time that a later laughed- at repairing campaign occurred. Recently though I saw a pic of a normal blue/yellow with red spsf style number boards and what appears to be a patch over it number though the number on the patch is in blue font. Did SP and ATSF do a renumbering campaign as well?

If I remember correctly, the SD45T-2s that SP was rebuilding at the time were changed from starting at SP 9500 to 6767 (if I remember correctly). I think only one or two were released prior to the renumbering. Other than that, I do not know of any SP locomotives renumbered.

The first SD45-2 rebuilds on Santa Fe were renumbered in the 7200 series in anticipation of the proposed merger.  They were quickly renumbered to the 5800 series when the merger application was denied.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul
