I lived in Saskatoon for many years. Since then Carleton Trail Railway has taken over rail operations from Saskatoon to Prince Albert and from North Battleford to Meadow Lake. How is business for them since overtaking these two lines?

There was a TRAINS Newswire story on April 17 noting that Carlton Trail received a $76,000 grant for track improvement from the Saskatchewan government Shortline Railway Sustainability Program. So they must be doing something right.

It says the active line is 103 miles from Saskatoon to Prince Albert (not sure if or how they count the mileage of the 2 or 3 branches beyond there), which are shown as green lines on the map that I've linked below. 

Bu the line from North Battleford to Meadow Lake is shown on this map - http://www.omnitrax.com/files/railroad_assets/CTRW.pdf - in red, which the legend says is "CTRW Inactive Line". 

The $76,000 grant would pay for roughly 1,000 new ties installed, or about 10 ties per mile over that 103 miles.  Which is better than nothing - and maybe enough to patch up/ repair the worst spots - but nowhere near what's needed to keep the line operational on a long-term basis (that's about 100 ties per mile per year on average, more or less).
