Rick, you hit the nail on the head! I think you should forward that to Gunn. He says he wants to get Amtrak in shape, maybe that'll help. Your analogy of the trip jives perfectly with my own experience with a trip from Michigan, to New Orleans LA. in 1994. The only difference is, I actually followed through with the Amtrak "adventure", and after arriving in N.O. a full day and a half late, told myself "never again". The lounge car staff was extremely rude to the patrons on the way down, they ran out of just about everything except attitude, and there was NO compensation whatsoever for the inconvienince. The choice to travel Amtrak cost me 2 days worth of "Mardi-Gras", and if I ever am trying to get somewhere on any kind of a schedule, believe me, Amtrak will NOT be a part of the plans! <br />
