Where are some good places to watch trains in Baltimore? I am going there next weekend to see the B&O museum, and what are some other places I should visit while there?
Thomas Viaduct of the B&O a few miles SW of town - see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Viaduct
Also, if you're into trolleys, the Baltimore Streetcar Museum, at: http://www.baltimorestreetcar.org/
- Paul North.
....The Thomas Viaduct....What a great structure, and noting it's build date....Awesome.

Well, with this talk of the Thomas Viaduct I might as well post a picture of it.
I also agree that the B&O Museum and the Baltimore Streetcar Museum are each good for a day.
Hope this supplemental info isn't too late for you to include it in your plans, if desired:
"Baltimore Railfan Guide" - see: http://www.railroadsignals.us/baltimore/balthome.htm and
http://www.railroadsignals.us/baltimore/maps.htm
"FrogRail's" tours and guides to railfan sites in Maryland - several include different parts of Baltimore, so these are the pages with all of them so you can pick and choose as you like:

"Baltimore Railfan Links" - http://www.trainweb.org/baltimorerailfans/links.html
This has nothing to do with railfanning, but if you're going to be in Baltimore try and make time to see Fort Mc Henry. You won't be sorry you did, trust me on this one!
I would love to visit it but I have a very limited time in Baltimore
To get to Fort McHenry you will be passing on a bridge over CSX's Locust Point Yard.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!
The CSX Metropolitan Sub west out of DC. Point Of Rocks, MD, ( about 40 miles southwest of Baltimore) where the main lines from Baltimore and Wasington merge to head West. Also, about 15 miles further west is Harper's Ferry, WV. CSX has a large double track deck girder bridge crossing the Potomac River. Follow Md 340 from I70 at Frederick, MD and you're there.
Hope I'm not sending this to late.
Happy railfanning!
There are actually two bridges across the Potomac at Harpers Ferry--one carries the main line to Cumberland, and the other carries the line that goes up the Shenadoah Valley. The diverging point of the Shenandoah line is inside the tunnel on the Maryland side of the river.
