<DIV mce_keep="true">Wow, Mike, great article on the rolling Scherzer bridge for the Chicago River. And of course, great pictures, too. (but that's getting to be expected!). I think the best ones are those with the rolling quadrants at track level with the counterweights dropping down when the bridge is open, blocking the right-of-way.</DIV> <DIV mce_keep="true"> </DIV> <DIV mce_keep="true">What I find amazing is the size of the motor necessary; if the counterweights are almost as heavy as the bridge structure, a 1 hp motor can do the job.
