Twice in one day!!
Posted by miniwyo on Sunday, July 25, 2004 11:23 PM
OK so, I was on my way out to a function that I was attending that took place about 40 miles east of town, and I was on I-80 that follows along with the UP mainline. I saw not one but 2 clean UP locos. I was suprlsed to see the first, but ASTONISHED to see the second one. I then arrived at the coal mine that I was going to, as it was their 25th anniversary they had an open house and let people come out for a day of fun and a free lunch. They were taking people on trips to see the giant draglines that they use and they did 2 blasts in one of the pits, and to top it of they were giving CAT 777D Haul Truck Rides, Lots of fun. But anyway this was an event that I wanted to take pics of so, after taking a mornings worth of pictured on my digital camera I decided to shut it off and put it in the truck, but , I forgot to turn the swithc off so it was still using power, and this train with 2 AC4400s at the point pulign empty coal cars to get loaded pulls in to load it I go to get the camera and its dead. You now when you get a perfect shot and it's somthing ya just gotta take a picture of and show it to everyone, that was the kind of shot that I had, Darn the luck.

Bummer! Were any of the earlier shots saved, or did you lose those too?
Maybe they'll add an "automatic shutoff feature" or "battery saver feature" one of these days.

Hi MP57313,
My Minolta already has a auto shut off.
The main menu allows you to choose from between one to three minutes, if you dont use the camera within that time frame, it turns itself off.

I have a JVC DH90R camcorder that takes digital stills, and i save all my pictures on a memory card so it doesnt get erased. I did get a good shot of an old minecart that they had out there if yall would like to see it.
