changes don't impress me
Posted by STEVEL on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 10:47 PM

As others have stated, I find things to be somewhat slower.  aAs an example it took 45 second to load the post a message screen to load.   I very much disappointed on the changes to the web cam procedure for the Rochelle Web Cam.  The Web Cam refresh that was above and below the video screen on the old web site is gone .  Now you have to go all the way out to the Main screen and start over.  PUT BACK TO REFRESH BUTTON ABOVE OR BELOW THE ROCHELLE  VIDEO  DISPLAY TO RECYCLE WHEN IT TIMES OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, I am not impressed much either.  There are a couple of new things that if they worked as I expected them to that would be good, but so far they don't really work as I think they should.  The rest is not much of a change.

But, I see no diffferences in the Rochelle webcam at all.  I have never seen a "refresh" button on the screen and it has never timed out on me (maybe I have not ever watched it long enough!).  I have not watched it much since the changeover so I don't know how I would handle a Time-out, if it should occur to me now.

I find it really interesting to note the vast differences people see in any website.  I am getting along fairly well with this changed website, but others are totally befuddled by it.

Of course, the previous massive change that they did a couple of years ago, locked me out of making any postings at all (I could create new threads and respond to others, but all of my typing would dissappear when I sent it so my postings were always empty.  Kalmbach's IT people did attempt to help me, but I finally gave up on the site for a year or more... Didn't read posts because it was frustrating to not be able to respond... When I periodically tried it again, over the next couple of years, it still would not work, then one day I could post messages and the text did not dissappear and I have no idea what changed), so I do understand the frustration that people feel with this change.

As for slowness, I am seeing a difference in operation, but where the old system seemed slow this one now seems faster, but of course the exact opposite is also present - where it the old system seemed to be fast, this new one is slower.

Stupid cornpewters, anyhow!
