Looking at making run down to Cumberland MD to the Western Maryland Senic RR.Anyone know of a good place to stay to get some good pictures/video thats fairly close to the rr traffic.

IIRC, the Hoiliday Inn is right next to the CSXT mainline west in Cumberland. Also in Cumberland, the VA yard is off of MD 51, east of town, also accessible from Virginia Avenue in town. Hemstetters" curve is still available for shooting the Scenic, just short of Bush Tunnel, NW of town. MapQuest should show you how to get to the Hemstetters' farm. Drive to Frostburg and visit the old station to shoot the turntable and Depot area. If you go up on the overlook, You will be standing on the old tunnel which used to go under Frostburg, then the line ran down the creek to Luke, WV, in the old days. Be sure to get a room that is NOT over the lounge/disco. I made the mistake of not inquiring and had a miserable night's sleep. The view over the CSX tracks was great but that disco music up to 2AM got real old real fast.
