reported on the news that csx is moving its chicago division HQ to North Baltimore Ohio.Does this mean the dispatchers will come with them or will they still have an office in Calumet City??

From what I heard, Joe, this is just headquarters for intermodal operations. Might make sense in the bigger scheme of things, whereas moving the regular operating headquarters out of the Chicago area would make about as much sense as moving ours from Proviso to Rochelle.

Isn't it true that there are going to be some reorganization for the operating crews, too?  Isn't both Willard and Garrett rumored to be taking a hit, with crews having to report at North Baltimore instead?

CSX is out to do away with a lot of shorter pool service. My only thought is that sometimes, when these carriers try to extend the runs, there turn out to be a lot of unintended consequences that they didn't foresee. Still, they press on because they can't be wrong.

CSX currently has Willard-Chicago and Willard-Buffalo assignments.  I suspect that any crews that get HQ'd at North Baltimore will be for runs that originate or terminate at North Baltimore.  Through trains, that have no work at North Baltimore will most likely continue to be crewed as the presently are.

Just a guess as I am not in the railroad industry...but there seems to be a central dispatch area for all of Chicago in CHICAGO.  This allows for coordintion of movements from one railroad to another.

Is this correct?  If so, my guess is that dispatch would stay in CalCity.
