Don, <br /> <br />You are proving everything I have been saying. <br /> <br />1) Make it private. <br />2) Build only after a study shows the ridership is there. <br />3) Consider it part of a regional system and fund it that way. <br /> <br />I imagine the DART organization will expand further in your area. I think that is great. I wish Roger luck out in LA as well. <br /> <br />I would like to go back and point out one thing from what you said. Y'all built that DTW system which covers 32ish miles (?) for two billion. An earlier post said we could build a national system for $200 billion. This just doesn't add up. That is another part of why I don't think it is realistic to commit government funds to a new HSR Amtrak system. I think the cost would be so much greater than the $200 billion that has been thrown out that you couldn't charge enough for the tickets to break even. <br /> <br />Good story. I will use it to support my point of view in the future. Thanks - Ed
