If you want good railroad fiction, check out the novel, Two Track Main. The author <br />was unhappy with his home town's lack of railroads, so he went back in history and created additional lines coming into town. He then tells a story about various characters who were impacted by the change from steam to diesels back in the 1950's. Includes lots of action, disasters, violence, and romance. Look up Two Track Main at the Barnes and Noble, Amazon, and Xlibris web sites.
