<p>Jerry Pinkepank's July 1970 article on electrification could be updated in twenty-five words or less. Like, Southern Pacific is a fallen flag. There is another problem, besides the enormous capital investment. The power industry has peak-period charges, while railroads expect a flat rate.</p><p>The electric power industry, the most capital intensive, has its own capital problems. </p>
