A woman waiting to board Amtrak in Burlington Iowa was struck by the train. The news story reports her leg was crushed.

It looks like driving isn't the only stupid thing to do while talking on a cell phone. Wandering aimlessly aound the train platform can officially be added to that list.
And then the dumb comment about "I don't care what anyone says, she was sucked under the train." Sorry, but that myth has already been disproved. They even found that the suction was at the BACK of the train, the front has a high pressure area that would tend to push you away, not draw you under.
Rule No.4: In the absence of facts, always, always blame the train.
Yesterday it happened yet AGAIN in the Orlando, Florida area where a Florida to New York train struck a car and three of the four occupants of the car were killed. According to a report I just read the car had been going 55 mph on a street with a 40 mph limit and witnesses saw it drive under the lowering crossing gates....Sooooo, yet another case of a "less than smart" individual losing in a "let's see if we can beat the train" game of chance, simply to save themselves from having to wait (my guess) about thirty seconds for a fast Amtrak train to pass the crossing. WHEN WILL THESE IDIOTS LEARN THAT THEY CAN'T WIN THIS GAME?

The best hope is someday soon they'll run out of players.
As I said on another thread, this game isn't baseball--you don't stand in front of the train to catch it!
