Up the Grade with Ed King and Don Phiilips
Posted by wallyworld on Thursday, March 18, 2004 2:04 PM
I just wanted to post how much I enjoyed Ed King's article on the N&W mountain operations as well as the entire mountain railroad "theme" issue.
I just heard today via MSNBC that some European rail services have been cancelled after a perceived terrorist threat. This coming on the heels of the Madrid bombings.
After reading Don Phillips problems at the Post regarding Don's concern with surface transportation security issues being dismissed as uninteresting to only afew readers were in reality, right on target as well as specfically prophetic. I was also glad to read that Don's concern's with the railroad's lack of interest in their public profile which echo my own posts here. I wish Don all the best of good wishes and am confident he will easily find another outlet for his perceptive and cogent observations.

Nothing is more fairly distributed than common sense: no one thinks he needs more of it than he already has.
