British Railway Photographs.....
Posted by cogloadreturns on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 5:55 AM

For anybody interested in Modern British photography may I recommend the following site:

http://www.andyknowles.co.uk/

The gent concerned is a member of Network Rail's operational team therefore is able to take pictures from "live" sites. Most of the pictures are taken in Eastern England and the East Midlands and features a variety of signalling equipment etc.

His night shots are great. I wonder how he does it?

I noticed some English Wales Scottish (EWS) locomotives on the work trains, does Network Rail contract with EWS to haul their work trains?

Yes, and with some of the other freight operators, especially GB Railfreight.

In fact GBRf was effectively started up on the back of a contract with Railtrack/Network Rail, who wanted some competition for EWS in the marketplace for engineering trains.

That link was just placed in my favorites folder. There's some excellent work there!
