Would like to know about the Whistle Signals. How many signals does one hear when approaching a train crossing, how many when approaching a town, etc. Can anyone help?

Years ago, the AAR used to publish booklets about railroads that included the whistle and hand signals, but the only place I have seen this information in the last half century is in railroad Rulebooks. But, the standard signal for a highway rail grade crossing is long - long - short - long held until reaching the crossing. With the use of radios universal, the whistle and hand signals once used between railroaders are seldom used anymore.
