The First Ten years went by so fast
Posted by cnwfan51 on Friday, May 30, 2008 10:25 AM
On June 1st I will have been employed by the Union Pacific for 10 years. It has been a ride and looking forward to the next 10 or 12 years until I decide "to pull the pin" and retire.  I am one of a few here in Boone that really likes my job and every time I get the call and get into my bib overalls flip the strapes over my shoulders and buckle them up I am living a dream .                                                                                                                                            I havent been a member of this forum for less then a year but I have gained a mountain of information and hope that my contributiuons have been helpful  Looking forward to staying on this forum and meeting all of you someday    Just a thought or two   CNW Forever Larry

Congratulations, Larry!

You probably would have enjoyed the job even more had you started it in CNW days, when Boone was very much a CNW town.

Do you know whether George Maybee is still there?  I remember when he was the agent here at Proviso. They made a division manager out of him, and sent him out west to Boone, where he apparently fit like a hand inside a glove.  He was mayor of Boone for a while after his retirement from the railroad.  And I never heard a bad thing said about him.  I thought of him because he was another guy who loved his job.  As do I.

As for the Forum, I've appreciated your contributions, too!  Please stick around!

Congrads on the 10 year mark.

Isnt it amazing how quickly the time flies by?  Think back to 1998 and how much has changed in that short period of time.  Can you even imagine what changes will occur by 2018?
