Right where the former Nickelplate crosses the former Wabash here in Ft Wayne, on the former's way down into your part of the state is an interlocking and exchange siding that USED to have a manned tower, named "Hugo". The Tower is long gone,but the name persists to this day, denoted by a wayside sign that is obviously maintained by the railroad, stating "Hugo" Have you any idea or info as to the significance of this name? It certainly has no bearing upon anything in the immediate vicinity, and I'm just curious if you might know. Based upon my experiances in California, noting that the "Redondo" tower is no where near "Redondo Beach", yet "kinda in that neck of the woods" based upon the direction the passing track heads off to, I'm wondering if "Hugo" might have any significance with any entities down in your area?
