Salt Lake City Update

Yay! I have computer access at the dorms here at Central Refridgeration! I have been in class everyday concentrating on work and getting my CDL Class A lisence. The weather is nice here and it frustrates me because I want to do some railfanning, but I have all day classes and no rental car!

However since I am Staying at the Econo Lodge right now since there is no space in the dorms, I am able to some railfanning in the evening. The Union Pacific line that comes in from the Lucin cutoff is literally in front of my hotel room. I got out of class early today and will be out early again tommarow, so I will be able to sit outside my room, with Camera in one hand and my Utah Commercial Vehical Operators Training guide in the other doing some railfanning. Its a pretty busy line that sees about 2 trains every hour during the day and 4 an hour during the night time hours.

I am doing great and wanted to let everyone know that I am ok. I take my Class A permit test tommarow and I am nervous as hell right now. Once I get off here I am going back to hitting the book. I failed the first Pre-test, but the 2nd one I took, I missed a grand total of only 2 questions out of 85 questions.

P.S. I came accross a shortline that seems to switch an intermodal here while going back to the hotel Monday night that appears to operate with PREX Locomotives, either GP16's or other re-built GEEPS, anyone know of this road?

The Utah Railway switches some of the industries on the old D&RGW tracks.  You might also catch a BNSF on trackage rights.
