Wisconsin Southern Pink Boxcar Sightings?
Posted by Andy1087 on Saturday, December 15, 2007 3:46 PM

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone here has spotted WSOR pink cancer awareness boxcar out and about on the rails? I have only seen a photo of it. Please post a followup here saying when and where you saw this car.

Thanks,

Andy

WSOR 503196, for those who can trace it.

Hasn't gotten by me yet.

I caught it when it was fresh out of the Paint shops in Horicon back at the beginning of November:

Haven't caught it in revenue service though. I don't see the WSOR's RBLs on their regular routes much.

It's a bright pink all right!

Cool Picture...thanks

I wonder how long it'll take the "artists" to tag this boxcar?

I think in this case that might be an improvement.....

I don't think there is any danger of someone driving into that over a crossing.

You think this is bad? Just wait until inflation kicks in.....

Not very long I expect. Some of the brand-new BNSF freight cars already have graffiti on them.

Long live the BNSF .... AND its paint scheme. SchemerBob

I would guess it won't take long either. Something that attracts attention like that boxcar just yells "tag me!"

There's actually three 9/11/01 boxcars and one other patriotic one. One has a flag decal with "A Day America Will Never Forget," another with a flag decal has "God Bless America," and a third with an Air Force logo says "No One Comes Close" all released shortly after 9/11. Later on (want to say 2003ish) they did another with the flag decal and "We Support Our Troops."

And then the other 3 cars that Dan mentioned. Makes a total of 7 if I can count right.

It looks like the Athearn and the pink car are in the Horicon yard now, not really visible from public property.

I saw this car for the first time in person on train 484 on the CP at Duplainville. It has quite a bit of tagging on it which bugs me a bit. Not that tagging a rail car is right, but to deface a car that carries an important message as this one does is wrong.

The car has been tagged pretty heavily on both sides. I managed to catch it coming into Janesville on the Chicago train back in May. I put pictures of it up on my flickr, but it managed to create a crap-storm so I restricted the viewing on it.

I think it was tagged once, was repainted in pink, and has since been tagged again.

Lemme grab a link.

If you care to visit my flickr stream, here is the car from April 21, 2012. Within the replies you will see the other pictures of its first tagging.

The Wisconsin & Southern Fight *** Cancer came through Vicksburg, Michigan on a CN Eastbound to Battle Creek freight train on June 2nd, 2012. I have a slightly blurry photo on photobucket.

There are several videos on YouTube of the WSOR box cars.

I have seen this car on the UP-WSOR interchange at Granville WI twice in the past month, on 8-30-12 and 9-24-2012.

I fully agree with Andy, but there will ALWAYS be morons who literally have nothing else constructive to do but to find ways of destroying the property of others.  They are especially moronic when you stop to consider some of them actually BUY the paint they use in tagging (with Mom and Dad's money no doubt) while others simply steal it.
