Does anyone have plans to attend the first Annual rail fest in North Platte this weekend??? I plan to leave Monticello on Sat. and will be at the event on Sun. Yard tours and UP will have a big display there!! go to www.nprailfest.com/ for details! See you there!

Did they ever get the new observation area rebuilt?

In the last pictures I saw of the new tower (perhaps a month old), the vertical sides were up, but the top platform had not been installed.

I seem to recall the projected finish date was the spring of 2008.

Dupo Railfest is the weekend after next at an unspecified location.

 

Basically, local railfans gather and spend three days giving each other crap, getting drunk, and watching trains.
