A special southern pacific paintscheme?

The paint scheme you refer to was for the SP/SF <br />merger that wasn't approved.The markings on the long hood were postioned to read SPSF once the merger was approved,before hand though the units only sported their owners name.The STB never approved the union.(the only one) <br /> I'm not sure how many loco's still wear that paint scheme.Though in 1998 I did see one Southern <br />Pacific unit on a westbound manifest at El Paso Tx <br />I also seen a Santa Fe unit in 1996 in phoneix Az. <br /> Both units were looking pretty haggered,and with <br />both UP's and BNSF's recent large locomotive purchase's they've probally been retired. <br />But that,s a guess,if there's any still out there <br />I would love to know as the photo's of that trip <br />were stolen.
