Teen injured in leap from trains path
Posted by railfan619 on Thursday, August 16, 2007 1:25 PM
HI everyone I was reading the local paper today and I was reading that. two kids were riding their bikes on the railroad tracks on the north side of. Milwaukee at 42nd and Mt. Vernon and one of the kids jumped 20 feet to avoid begin killed by the train but instead he hurt himself he broke both ankles and broke his wrist when he jumped and the other kid was not hurt at all. The train destroyed the boy's bike the kids told police they did not hear the train coming at the time of the accident. So I'm guessing that would have been the CP over there but I'm not to sure. police are investigating the accident the boy was treated at froedtert hospital in wauwatosa. The boy was 16 years old and the girl was 11 years old now you all know what kids do when they are out of school for the summer. They like to ride their bikes on railroad tracks. Although summer is coming to an end the kids are still acting stupid. These last couple weeks of summer.

If that was CP I think there is a whistle ban in the area.  The mainline curves all over the place so the engineer may not have seen them until the last minute and then laid on the horn.  I'm guessing they learned a valuable lesson, no?
You think this is bad? Just wait until inflation kicks in.....

Seems CP is not having much luck with not-to-smart kids this week.  See the posting of the 9 year old hurt while trying to jump on a moving freight in Calgary for another example.

That boy can just forget his ambitions of being the greatest summer olympics gold medal winner and having his name in the Guinness Book of World Records.     Imagine what a future that young lad had.      Being able to jump twenty (20) feet.

I was curious about that, too. A kid jumps 20 feet and there's no explanation of said feat?
