Chicago Tribune article on Brighton Park Jct and CREATE
Posted by MP173 on Monday, July 16, 2007 11:30 AM

Today's (July 16th) Chicago Tribune, Metro Section, page 1, the "Getting Around" column written by Jon Hilkevitch has an excellent article and two photos.  The article is entitled "Upgrade program running on rails; Shanty's closing is part of track updates".

As far as I can tell, it is a very accurate and well written article outlining the closing of Brighton Park cabin and the new technology involved.  That is used as a springboard describing the CREATE program.

Of course, I am unable to link to the article, due to my technical inabilities, but someone here will no doubt be able to do so.

Thanks for the heads up, Ed.

I think this will work-

I wish they would get to work on re-installing the connector at Grand Crossing, saving the City of New Orleans 20 minutes each way.

Dale:

Thanks for the link.  Maybe someday I will figure that out.

does anyone know if the crossing has been completed yet and if it's still accessible to the public?

Don't know whether it's still accessible, but I may have been the first Forum member to go through it without stopping (nowhere near 30 or 40--more like 3 or 4) when we came home from St. Louis last night.  On the trip down, we still stopped for some reason (nothing in sight when we crossed).  Maybe will have more info on the St. Louis trip late today.
