Technical Issues After August 13, 2012 Maintenance

  • IMHO too much space in the general discussion page. hard to find an older thread

  • This new format is terrible. Techies cannot seem to leave things alone that work.

The paper magazine is going downhill but I thought they would leave the forums alone. Guess not.

More and more I am preferring the MRH forums.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.

  • And, apparently, there is no way to delete a post once you've posted it.  You can edit it; you just can't delete it. Tongue Tied  Perhaps it will be included under the Options tab, above the text box?

Time...It marches on...without ever turning around to see if anyone is even keeping in step.

  • I think I know how Brer Rabbit felt when he was flung into the Briar Patch by Brer Fox with no notice...

  • Hello! Just signed on after the maintenance (significant upgrade?) and changed a few profile things.

Here are a couple of initial observations and issues that hopefully you can consider/address and let me/us know.

    1) Moving around the forum (page to page) seems to be very very slow. This also applies to hitting the back arrow to return to a previous page. This is most evident when in the view unread tab.

    2) In the prior version, after entering "posts not read", clicking on "show more", the posts would also show first posting date. I can't find that now. Is it still available? It really helped to skip posts that had been dormant for a long time which had been bumped by someone just discovering it and making a comment.

Thanks for hosting, maintaining, and monitoring this forum. It's a great resource and definitely a value added feature to my MR subscription.

  • To be able to quote a prior post - you have to first click reply to that individual post and then the Rich Text button to then activate the Quote button.....lot of work!

My kneejerk response is that I don't like it, but that's likely because I'm so used to the old look for so many years...we'll see over time if we all get used to the new look.

  • Three Things -

When making a new post or replying to a post - the Email relplies box is automatically check when calling up the screen.

Signatures have nothing that set them apart from the post itself.

When makng a reply - either from the Reply Screen or the Quick Post screen - to get formatting the 'Rich Text' option has to be additionally clicked.   Suspect it was done in order to speed up the screen transmission tim.

  • I like the look of the new format.  Refreshingly smart.  Cool

Incidentally I view all of the magazines except Classic TOY Trains. Yes
