Widenose cabs

  • i have always wondered why these cabs came to exist. what new safety features do they have? is it just because standard cabs get cold in the winter and widenose cabs have heating systems? or does it have something to do with visibility (how well the engineer can see ahead)?

WELL It's because in the earlyer SD70s and so on the door wasn't a full hight door.......so to be nice to crewman and to increase visability they changed the cabs......

Uh no. The cab is for safety and crew comfort. There is no elctrical except headlight and control stand. Don't get to crazy Max. I know there are a couple over head lights in the cab but all the electrical is located in the cabinents behind the cab.
I don't think they look nice at all. They just look ugly.
