milw diesel whereabouts

  • Anybody out there seen an ex milwawaukee diesel in some of its original paint (blackberad or otherwise) that is still operating? I know CP still has MP15s at St.Paul and Chicago, but what about the rest of the fleet Soo aquired?
    Repainted? Retired? Sold?

    Accually the unit being rebuilt right now is a CNW fp-7 but you are right about the E-8 being rebuilt, but there is a 2nd MILW E-8 just rusting away[V], i think that is the case of other a and b unit, but don't quoat me

    Anyway, There are three F-units down at the Illinois railway museum. One is in the process of being rebuilt (FP-7A) the other is in running condition and they use it.(F7A) The B unit i am not sure about. They also have an E-unit being rebuilt and a U25B. They have a couple others there too.

    And actually, ALCo stands for the American Locomotive Company, and MLW stands for the Montreal Locomotive Works.

    Thanks for the correction, but the rail trip just dosen't have the same oura that the 24 mile NSSR has, up to 35m.p.h. and over2 miles are within 200 feet of the largest body of freash water in north america, lake Superior. Athough I do have to say i loved that s-1 [:p]as of now we don't have any alco powerd trips, nor do we have steam, we are about 300,000 dollers short.

  • MILW 199 is now on Wisconsin and Southern rails as WSOR 4009.

    Ran her a few times when I used to work for WSOR. She can still run with the best of them, and was one of the better pullers in the fleet, despite being one of the lighter SD40-2s built.

  • Lol, Max, a little quick to jump the gun on some of this stuff. Where did you get that the SDL39's were scrapped? As for Milw where -a-bouts, look in my sig. Taken about 2 weeks ago.
