Hey, it's OK, it was a bit of a shocker, especially when you were down this morning, (I guess making the change over)

It's a step forward, to be sure.

Is this forum going to support html so that links can be directly clicked?

And just as a curio, did you folks look at Delphi's forum software before making the change? I know they charge an arm and a leg for private editions of their software, that lets you do your own thing without their bannerads, but it is (imho) the most feature rich forum software out there, from my experiance

Yes, the site was down this morning due to the change over. There was a lot more to the update than just the forums. The events section has been updated, all the code for managing accounts (registration, login/logout, site access) has been completely replaced, the code for polls has been replaced, cosmetic modifications, and much more. In order to successfully apply the upgrade the site had to come down for awhile.

In regards to HTML, no you won't be able to use the standard HTML tags. However, the forum does transform web links and email addresses into links. For example, http://www.trains.com will be displayed as a link. No markup or extra tags were needed.

As for Delphi, I have looked at it before. While I agree that there are some nice features it wasn't really a viable option for us. I started working with Snitz Forums in late 2000 and have been very happy with it. At one point I made a couple of modifications to make it function and look like a Delphi board, but the feedback I received was that many people preferred the Snitz format.

...Welcome the change to make this Forum more user friendler...Now if I can just find my way around to the point where I know where I am and want to be...Not sure I've been able to do that yet.

Yea Its gonna take a while to re-learn the system. Hey NO complaints so far. This makes it alot easer to see more post in ALOT less time then the old board. All Hail the Kalmbach "Train" Gods!!

Hi,
i am completely new to this site and to toy trains. But my 2 year old is fascinated by trains, and so iwant to buy a train set for him. Any suggestions where i can get a nice running train set for him that he and i can enjoy. Please reply.

SANI. Do you know anyone who has a train set? Are there any hobby shops that have trains near you? If there are go in and ask them what they suggest for you and a 2year old. If they say well you need to get this big set! Tell them no you just want a small starter set to begin with. See if there is a model rr club near you. The hobby shop person should know. Check with them. Or ask model railroader, or another train magazine to help. Bernt T.
