  • Wow! Sorry to hear about some people not knowing when to grow up. I am a railfanner on the east coast and hate it when someone or a few people spoil it for the rest of us. Joe A.
  • Does anybody here know what this thread is about?

This post was about rude railfans, but was withdrawn because of immature clowns from the EAST that could not seperate a discussion of railroading from their love for eastern railroads, the NS in particular..
I work out of Needles ,Calif. on the BNSF and catch trips across Tehachapie loop going to Bakersfield and down Cajon Pass to San Bernardino on occasion off of the extra board......A lot of railfans would kill to make these trips on a train, let alone get paid over $ 800 per round trip...
However, a few idiots back EAST wanted to downgrade my posting about Cajon & the Loop and express their displeasure about the former Santa Fe...Some of them even E-Mailing me at HOME....After that , I assumed I was dealing with sick individuals,so I withdrew my comments....SO, from now on,,I will report ANY trespassers and you WILL be removed from the property....The Loop & Cajon...possibly arrested,.Thanks to the NS & CSX railfans that have shown just how pathetic some of CAN be.
Railfans , you have lost a friend on the railroad.......I used to be a railfan, dating back to 1982...but no more.....
By the way,Most Engineers & Conductors call railfans, "Foamers" and think very little of them..Most Engineers will say ,"Get a life", when we pass a "Foamer" or say"Get A Job"....Railfans are on the same level as illegal immigrants on a boxcar or other hoodlums in the way that could be a problem to us....Sorry, but thats the way it is.......Now you know....

It might just be me, but you sound a little racist against eastern railfans. Railfaning Racism...whats next?!
  • Why be upset at all railfans? Not all NS and CSX fans are rude. Besides that,
most of the people you encounter in your job are from the West, and probably
    not "rude".
It's too bad that some RR employees don't like us. I can understand that. Just
    don't condemn everybody.[sigh]

  • Gee, I thought this was going to be about something else.

My definition of rude railfans is when you are steam chase, and you get to a spot and are waiting with your camera, and some jerk steps in front of you and sets up a tripod. Because I'm not a total foamer, I just walk a quarter mile down the tracks to get away from people like that.

Of course, when you are out chasing a special train, you see some of the worst driving and dangerous stunts on the road.

That's the difference between me and a real foamer, I figure it ain't worth getting killed over. It's just a train.

Teamdon, there's no real point getting upset, especially in a forum setting like this. There will always be at least one in every crowd. If the emails are a problem, report the sender to Bergie, he's the forum administrator. You can find his email in a number of places around here, including at the bottom of every page under "contact us".
  • I'm sorry to hear all this, but not all railfans are like that.
I do my best to not annoy employees, and I think what you've said is a bit harsh.
    Please forgive us.
