Union Pacific Steam Turbine in Michigan & Delaware & Hudson RF16 Sharks!!!

[#welcome][:D] well, everyone I have found a one and only one Old Union Pacific Steam Turbine in Michigan. It is found at: railroadmichigan.com/mign.html and is the 23 picture down. Although, It does not say it is, I suspect because of the features on the side where the panels were removed. And, I believe it because it is in UP Yellow. Unfrotunately, the picture when you want to see it, is unavailable. But, you can still see the Picture.


Now on to the RF16 Sharks-- well, these are appearently privately owned and have been there on the LS&E since the picture was taken in 76'. It is the 3rd-4th picture from the top. The main unit is numbered #1205, with the other road number not to be seen.[8)][8)][8)][bow] Too much to write...[zzz][zzz]

Sorry to dissapoint you but thats not a turbine. It's a steam generator car and the picture ID says it was taken at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, IL. Both the UP unit and the B-unit are old E9's. Thats just my opinion.

I have read on other forums that the sharks are kept in a locked building because of thefts in the past at the E&LS RR.Also that when they were on the D&H they were abused by an engineer who didn't like Baldwin power.I saw them back in 1979 when they were at Cadillac on the Michigan Northern.

Last time I was in Escanaba was in the late 80's and there was a sign at the enginehouse that reads domething like, "railfans not wanted or encouraged. Treespassers will be prosecuted". That was after someone stole some builders plates.

The two Union Pacific Steam Turbines were returned to Westinghouse and scapped after the tour in 1939. From all the information on them that I have found, they were not used except for display.
