Trackside with Erik and Mike voting photos

In each installment new of Trackside with Erik and Mike, we include photos than Mike and I have taken with our Canon Digital Rebels. Some users have mentioned recently that they'd like to see us return to our original format where you vote for the better of essentially two identical photos that we've taken while together trackside. The alternative is to let us use whatever photos we've taken recently, regardless of whether we were together at the time or not.

I think they should be similar photos.....then they would be judged on quality, composition etc.

I hope you do not mind but while I liked both photos I am using Mike's photo as the background on my desktop [8D]

I think that either format works. Sometimes pics of the same train from different angles works, and sometimes two completely different photos work. Either way keep up the good work and good hunting.

I voted "I don't care" which I think is the same as "Use whatever photos you want". i.e Let's see your best shot!

I voted for different, but the same train once in a while would be good. I also think the winner should get 1st billing the next week, kinda as a badge of honor.

I say do whatever you like, as long as things stay fun. One thing that almost always comes in the photos are flash vs long-term appeal, like in Wickedly Perfect, the same type of contest. I've seen the votes go in both directions. Also, I feel anonymous voting is useless, as by now, we pretty much know what types of pics each photographer takes, and I easily guessed it the last time they tried that anonymous stuff, so it probably has no use now. Anyway, each has a great chance of winning, as we see the wins go back and forth, so just leave it how it is, and things will be good.

Try to use the best photos of each week. This would be regardless of where and with whom the shots were taken.

As for the coloum name, how about, "Trackside with our digital SLR's?" This would open the competion up to more "guests" as you have allowed during the past year.
