Unstoppable

  • I am seeing the clips for Unstoppable with Chris Pine and Denzel Washington and it says it is based on true events. Does anyone know anything about the circumstances of this story? It looks really good. I would be curious to know if BNSF allowed its trains to be used or dis the storytellers take liberties.

    Very curious.

  • The movie is loosely based on an incident that occurred on CSX, not BNSF.

The obviously Santa Fe inspired paint scheme (cigar band nose herald) that a few of the locos have in the movie was likely chosen simply because it is still a well known paint scheme.  But apart from the Santa Fe inspired paint scheme, BNSF has nothing to do with the movie.

Here is a detailed posting about the CSX incident:

  • This week is my first visit to NY. NY. Around my hotel there a several movies being shot.

I asked because of all the NYPD and other city vehicles being used.

The movie industry imports all vehicles. They paint every thing to look like what is real life.

  • Went to see this today, its a heckova fun movie! Yes

I'm sure all the hardcore foamers will point out everything they got wrong but theres plenty of great train action to make up for any inaccuracies.

       Have fun with your trains
