Via Passenger car information needed

  • Need roster information on VIa Rail LRC cars car capacity and types? Also need information on new Renaissance cars types capacities and road numbers? Also looking for information on the Budd cars purchased from U.S. for Via Rail service.

  • Your best source is the Trackside Guide 2004 published by the Bytown Railway Society Inc. P.O. Box 141, Station "A" Ottawa, Ontario, Canada K1N 8V1. It contains information on all aspects of Canadian Railroading including archival information.
  • West Coast Railway Assn , Squamish BC. has just received Budd RDC-1 # BC 21 ex BC RAIL, ( ex Reading #9156 / SEPTA #9156) Car not serviceable at present - wiring damage from fire under floor . also on site are BC #14 and BC #33 -- not sure of previous owners.

    Wow, I didn't know that the WCRA had a couple of BUDD cars up there.

    I'm gonna have to make a trip up there sometime, sounds like they are really starting to get quite the collection.
  • The current information I have is that the Renaisance equipment is Bagage car #7000-7011, 7500-7526; Club car# 7100-7113; Coach 7200-7232; and Service Car 7300-7316. I can't find out about their sleeper cars which they use primarily for an overnite route between Montreal and Toronto, sorry.
