I am producing a film about Jack Kerouac and his book Big Sur. In July 1960 he traveled from NYC to San Francisco and wrote about the CZ trip westbound from Chicago.

I am looking for clips for the opening credits of the film. I also have been trying to secure access to shoot new footage on today's Zephyr but I have encountered resistance from Amtrak. Does anyone have ideas that would help me share with the movie going public what that trip was like then?

The RFD channel showed a one hour program on the Zephyr a while ago. There are videos out there.

Shoot exteriors of todays' Zephyr and you don't need Amtrak's permission nor cooperation.

  Branson Scenic  Railway in Branson Missouri has three Burlington Dome cars that are used daily on trips in SW Mo.  I know they have a website, but I don't have it handy.  Filmed from the right angle it would be hard to tell the era in which they were filmed.  They are still lettered for Burlington.  I rode in Silver Garden.
