  • Robby, your shots came out pretty nice too! Some neat shots of the other trains around on the CP as well. BNSF run through power isn't all that common (other than on the Columbia Coal trains where it's the norm) so that's a pretty nice catch in that last train.

  • Thanks! Yeah, I thought it was pretty odd to see a CP and a BNSF on the same train. I had about a 10 second warning of that train and the SD40-2s. Normally with the leaves on the trees you can hear the motor of the engine echo a little bit, but with the leaves off the trees that seemed pretty much out the window. I got out of the car by Timber Falls and as soon as I walked onto the bridge the CP train came, talk about luck!

  • Nice shots guys....I couldn't make it this year, and today sucked big fat sweaty monkey bollocks, so even though it's here right this minute, I'm stuck here....

Robby and Noah, great pics, but I think one of you had your ISO a little high Tongue [:P]

Noah, I had that crosshatch filter sussed out from the moment the first half of the picture loaded! Are you thinking of getting one now? Wink [;)]

  • Thanks Matt. I did take a look at that filter (which BTW, is correctly called a cross screen filter,  I made an error in my previous post), and it's only about $20. Might be worth picking up, though the problem is I don't know how often I'd get to use it. Once a year with the Holiday Train, and maybe occasionally around Reedsburg if I do any night shots, but that would be about it. I'm defintely going to keep it in mind for future purchase though...

  • dont you guys EVER complain about what you guys get as far as trains go, you guys are lucky, getting CP, UP, and BNSF on a regular basis not to mention special runs! all i get is the usual black, white, and red of CN.

  • feh. i would LOVE to get CN. UP is nothing to call yourself lucky about seeing. especially when all trains are night trains.

i'm lucky that i have SD40-2s yes...and NS on the roadrailer. but this is ONLY if i can catch these trains. and that's a very small chance.

and it doesnt help that alec and a few others wont quit telling me to like certain SD40-2s more just because they used to be something they clearly no longer are. and therefore are no better than the rest.

but they be SD40-2s. and that's all that matters......i love my SD40-2s...when see them anyway

That's 3 colours and a variety of locomotives, which is a hell of a lot more than I get! Seriously, look at my pictures on railpics...they're all red GEs, with an occasional EMD thrown in! 2816 is nice, but we only see her 2 or 3 times a year which is still a hell of a lot better than nothing! I find CN a diverse source of interest. CP = Candy Apple Red GEs, and all that getting them on a regular basis does is make me sick of the things.

On the brighter side of things, today I got another email, someone wants to use http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=207226 <-- that photo in an advertisement sent to about 35 000 people. That's a lot of people. I could make a pretty penny off this!

  • Nice pictures Noah and Robby. I've gone under that bridge Before when we've gone to the dells. But never RFed there. Always seem like and interesting spot.

Matt, I would be a little bit careful. Do some research on this guy and make sure he dosn't rip you off. Just want to make sure you don't get ripped off.

  • Even though I did not get to see this train this year I figure I would give it a run then on this here

Here are some of the CP Holiday train I caught making its way thru the cities

  • no joke there. love the scream of the 645. even for stupid UP crappers, SD40-2s are awesome!

  • what sim are you guys useing? i use the TRAINZ brand sim's but it all seem's that you guys are useing somthing diffrent
LETS GO TIGERS! (clap, clap, clap clap clap )
  • MSTS. It's more like real railroading. The Trainz series is a lot like model railroading compared to MSTS...

  • yeah trainz is pretty model like, i dont like the fact that i have to pay for all downloads, so i don download anything.

    so microsoft?

LETS GO TIGERS! (clap, clap, clap clap clap )
  • Yes, MSTS is much better. But the best stuff is payware, but there are a few good freeware builders.

Other news, I got some track layed, foam roadbed, and all of my switches. Next weekend I will likely lay the whole mainline, and be ready to run some *albeit only loops for now* trains finally!
