Yep, the WC SD40-2's lease expires in March.

What WCs are you talking about? I didnt think the WC 6000s were leased. And if its the grey units, those are SD40-3s not SD40-2s.
Alec
While we are on the topic of the grey units and the WC 2500, let me show a few from my archives.
GCFX 6059(above in Robbies deadline shot) with two WC SD45s at New Brighton.

Nice pix Alec.....I got so many pix of the 2500 its not even funny....I got books full of it when it was the Wausau switcher for a while and videos of it in Wausau and I have seen to much of the 2500.
Now its time to see the CN version of the 2500 in the GE C44-9WL style

I thought it was the ex-GCFX SD40-3s that had their leases expire in March, and the WC SD40-2s a bit later. Once all those are gone I would think the ICs wouldn't be too far behind. I guess the leases on the ex-GCFXs expired earlier then originally said. I hate to say this, but this could be the beginning of mass retirements of any SD40-2 from any line except possibly for the ICs rebuilt to -3s, and now with the gray ghosts leaving, I don't even know how long those are going to last. Does anyone know if CN has anymore new engines coming soon? I just saw a brand new SD70M-2 at Homewood, but it was from the latest order. This recent purge of the -3s including 2500 is starting to really make me wonder about the EJ&Es, but it doesn't really matter now that the merge most likely will not happen until 2009.
On a brighter note, nice phots, Alec, and J, that CN 2500 looks horrible compared to WC 2500. I've never been lucky enough to run into the 2500 yet. I've ran into about all the rare engines on the CN roster except the 2500.

There J, you happy that WC's gone. You have probably been waiting for this moment all your life. Happy, CN has won.
