Nice photos everyone. Brent and Jordan, great catch on that WC, I was hoping to run into a WC today that wasn't in the deadline, but no such luck. Here are more photos I have taken lately.
The day before Thanksgiving EJ&E SD38-2 675 was sitting on the mainline, so I braved the rain and got this shot.
The Pioneer Zephyr sits at the Museum of Science and Industry on Thanksgiving decorated for Christmas.
NYC 999 sits in the same museum. I usually don't pay too much attention to this engine, but this year the museum had their Christmas tree display right by the engine!
Another night shot of the Amtrak facility downtown.
Overall, a excellent Thankgiving holiday. Really makes me look forward to Christmas, with Holiday Trains and snow!
About that GTW GP9R, I kept thinking to myself that there was no way there could really be a GP9 on a mainline train. Wonder if that is a logo in the circle shape bleeding through. The GT did take cabs from GPs when they rebuilt these, so maybe that could be a DT&I logo. Not exactly sure but a good possibility. Also another interesting thing about the trip was the commentary over the yard radio. The yard dispatcher kept calling in random comments like "thats what aflac is for!" or "so, is your finger in your ear because I've called you at least 3 times!".
I Posted this on WPF....
Well I got some more work done on my Diorama, I got the ballasting done. The main is Dark grey ballast, and is suppose to represent the former Soo Line main, and the interchange is MILW white to represent a former Milwaukee Road line that crossed the SOO farther up the diorama which I didn't model. Now WC just uses the Interchange to get on the former MILW main.

you know, i'd actually consider P2k is it was DCC quick plug-equipped. but converting those to DCC and back is a HUGE pain. and after my SD45 mess, i really dont feel the need to go through that nightmare again. athearn is more...."user friendly"...and they're newer. and newer is always better....except for green goats.
but at least those kickin' SD70ACEs and GEVOs support my beliefs!
Your friendly neighborhood CNW fan.
Wow, that looks very nice Jordan! Your really learning quick!
Alec
Thanks Alec. Been workign away at it for a bit.
Robby, I can't wait to see those shops, and video.
Well, I don't have the photos on, but I do have links to two videos, the first of me walking along WC 7525 at the Illinois Railway Museum, and the second of a EJ&E SD38-2 at full throttle. There are plenty more on my youtube site but too many of them to post all the links.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6JfchCaDt4 that is the WC SD45
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9LZxoB5CNU and this is the EJ&E. I know I only mentioned the WC before, but this video reveals the sound of The "J". CN will never be able to provide anything like this!
not much is happening today. but i DID get a new sig image. here's the full size one
does anyone know when the CP holiday train is gonna run this year?
idl ike to see it but i dont know if i will depending on the date& where i go to see it
Also, I finally have the photos from last Saturday.
A nice consist leads a local through Lockport.
Another great consist heads light through Lockport. That second engine is quite rare for the BNSF transcon.
Well, sorry for the three posts in a row but it is for a very good cause! I went by Homewood today and there was some very odd power there. The deadlines with the DM&IRs and the Savage engines are the same so I won't post those.
This is the deadline I overlooked last trip, but now there are 4 ex-GCFX SD40-3s, one unpatched, and 3 patched for WC there. I don't know exactly why CN wants to get rid of these. Also note the BCOL SD40-2.
Here is the surprize of the day, CN's business train E9s sit outside the shops! These are the ONLY CN painted engines I actually truely like.
Another view. Quite a nice looking engine! This was on display last May for Franklin Park Railroad Dze, but this was the first time I truely ran into these by surprize.
Overall, another successful day at Homewood.
Also, good news from here in Joliet, the EJ&E/CN merge has been held back for a environmental impact study by the STB, but it has not been cancelled. Maybe EJ&E will still be here for its 110th anniversary next year!
3 posts in a row is okay when it's as dead as this!
I'm actually really suprised to see those ghosts going, after all that's what they were replacing the proper WC equiptment with, wasn't it?
CN....Chronically underpowered Nincompoops.
Wow I'm lame.
