Howdy yall!
This here's a place to relax and to tell of a good day of train-spotting. So grab a cold liquid, sit back, and enjoy yourselves.
The UP seems more busy than CN. The CSX line through there only sees 2-3 trains per day (except weekends) Since the CN-IC takeover, traffic seems to have fallen a bit on that line. The Amtrak trains on the line seem healthy.
Rather quiet out there tonight. Anyone going on a trip out there this weekend? Might as well talk about it. As for me, the Monticello Railway Museum is having caboose trains this weekend, may head up there.

Howdy ya'll! Whats happening at the tavern?! Anyone been on a railfanning trip lately? Well, I have, just yesterday, Sept. 8, I went up to the Fort Wayne, IN area. Spent a few hours in New Haven, IN which is immediately east of Fort Wayne. A great place to visit. NS has a yard there with a car repair shop and engine facilities. For a while there was so many trains moving around that I couldn't see all of them at one time! Seems to be a lot of roadrailer movements through this area. There are quite a few good spots for photos, but, I got the feeling that this area has a lot of railway police in the vicinity. There were a LOT of NS vehicles on the streets around town. This made me somewhat nervous about where I parked, mostly cruised up and down side streets along the R.O.W. Next, I went up to St. Joe, IN to where NS crosses the CSX double main. Got to see several moves on CSX and one on the NS. NS had a track gang working near the diamonds replacing a section of rail. Watched from a safe distance. Would have loved to talk to them but it seemed they were in a hurry to get their work done. Saw a string of new BNSF GEVOs go by in a westbound CSX toward Chicago. After leaving St. Joe, I went to Butler, IN to see the NS main, former LSMS line, across the top of Indiana. Again, one train after another!! Got to see my first Canadian Pacific intermodal move coming off the former Wabash line out of Detroit. Also saw one of the Wisconsin Central SD45s in a eastbound NS freight going through Waterloo,IN but didn't get a photo of it. That was a bummer but over all ...what a great day of railfanning!!!
sounds like a good trip!
