  • you know, i used to like CN up until they started pulling this crap. all those SD45s are for sale now. so why havent any of them been bought yet? are there no museums out there with room for one?

as for my off-topic rant in response to a previous post: UP is not that bad? buying out CNW and defacing all their locomotives is "not that bad"? now i have nothing interesting to look at. i dont go by the most historically signifficant railroad when i pick my favorites, i go by which road has the locomotives that are the nicest to look at. and armour yellow bodies with grey roofs is NOT interesting. where's the variety? you need 2 colors painted in a way that they'll balance out and look good. "but Max, Norfolk Southern has even MORE bland colors". yeah, but black happens to be my favorite color. that aside, i have to say i like BNSF the most amongst existing railroads

So if you bought out UP and changed the locomotives to CNW, that wouldnt be defacing? Its called YOUR company. CNW wasnt UP, so UP changed it to be UP.

  • right right. just like CP does to their SOO units? or like what CN does to the non-SD45 WC units? if i bought out UP, i'd leave the UP units as is, but i'd restore the ex CNW ones. then i'd take a bunch of SD45s and paint them in WC colors and number them the same numbers as those that CN scrapped.

    Your friendly neighborhood CNW fan.

  • CN doesnt repaint them because they are going to SELL/SCRAP THEM!! Waste of paint. Look at the ex DMIR tunnel motors. 4+ are already wearing CN paint and CN modifications.

And I know its not the same, but CN does have two SD45's. They are DMIR SD45-2's

  • No. UP owns tem now. UP can do any of the following in them

    Repaint them
    Burn them
    Scrap them
    Sell them
    Modifiy them
    And so on so forth

CN Bought WC. This meand that they can
    Burn the SD45'S
    Repaint the SD45'S
    Sell the SD45'S
    Keep the SD45'S
    Dispose of the SD45'S

    IT IS THAT SIMPLE
THEY EXIST TO MOVE GOODS, NOT TO PLEASE YOU
    Alexander
  • they exist to move goods, not to take over other railroads

    Your friendly neighborhood CNW fan.

  • But in order to stay competiative, they need to take over other railroads.

  • nowhere does it imply that they must have ugly paint schemes

    Your friendly neighborhood CNW fan.

  • You only think they are ugly.

But they are a buisness, and as coborn35 says, they have to stay competitive

Oh yeah, isnt it technically GTW that owns the locos?

    Alexander
  • we got pretty off-topic here. there's a topic in the trans magazine forums to vent our UP hatred already. what's frustrating is that nobody seems to be buying the SD45s. they'll be destroyed for sure.

    Your friendly neighborhood CNW fan.

  • You relaize you CANT "buy" them right? They arent for sale "sale". You put in a bid, and if that is the highest on that particular unit at a certain time, you get the locomotive.
