Man is this place dull!!! I'm going to spiff it up.
I have been doing allot lately on my model railroad, and it's coming around quite nicely.
This shows the engine house. There are two locomotives inside it at the moment.
The good portion of area that I have put scenery to.
Another shot of the engine shed.

A shot of the hills I made. I thought they had turned out quite well.
(You may notice that the ballast looks really bright and this is due to the flash on the camera. I shot these pictures at about 10 o'clock at night.)

Nice work, James. Not much new for me. I got a pair of Atlas / Kato GP7s at Oelwein RR days
I'll post the pics if imageshack ever works.
The new Atlas S1 will be out anyday (I have one pre-ordered at the LHS)

The railroading in the nearby vicinity is mediocre at best. I find that the two Amtrak trains a day being hauled by a repugnant parade of Geneses locomotives is most unnerving. The cargo trains that frequent the area tend to come late in the night as so I can't see them and I need my sleep. I find myself in a state of vexation at my current predicament.
(Is that better Kevin?)

All right, I admit I’ve been lazy in getting in here lately. I’ve been enjoying my last few days of summer before school starts on Tuesday. Can’t say I’m looking forward too it, but I suppose I really can’t avoid it (at least not legally).
James, VERY nice model railroad you’ve got there! The ballast even looks to be about the right color for the Milwaukee. I do like the Milwaukee Road, and it looks like you are going to have a neat layout there. Is there any particular location(s) that you are modeling, or is it just a freelanced layout?
Matt, another nice set of photos you’ve got too. I wish I could get my model photos to come out that well. I suppose it would help if I had a decent camera though.......
Been a little busy on the MRRing front myself. I stopped by my local hobby shop yesterday and ordered myself a new airbrush. I’ve got a bunch of painting projects I want to do but no good airbrush, so I convinced my parents to get me a compressor and an airbrush for my birthday. I also picked up a 100 ton WC hopper car, and a DCC decoder to install in a GP15 I already own. My Wisconsin and Southern Athearn GP35 also arrived yesterday from the guy I bought it from on E-bay too. So I ended up with a lot of merchandise making a new home in my house yesterday! Now I’ve got to start putting some of it together.
I also got to do a little railfanning on Friday over on the CP mainline near Wisconsin Dells. I caught the westbound Amtrak Empire Builder along with one freight in a little over an hour of railfanning. Not too bad really.
Well, I suppose I better get going, I’ve got way to many things to do today and tomorrow before I start school again!

yep I do, I live at the end of the WSOR's Reedsburg Sub, in Reedsburg, Wisconsin. I also know a half dozen or so current employees, as well as a few more that used to work for the railroad (including the head of the WSOR passenger department). I know a heck of a lot about the railroad too, I can tell you most anything you want to know, or if I don't know I can use one of my many contacts to find out.

Out of curiousity, have you been living in a hole in the ground for the past few months? It was only plastered all over the site for weeks or more before it happened that the site was changing, and it's been that way now for close to two months or so. You seriously need to pay a little more attention to things......
I've used AMI Instant Roadbed too, and it works great if you actually know how to use it properly. It's what I've got on my 8x16 foot layout, and it's been great for me. It doesn't work quite like they say, you still need to use nails and such for holding the track down, but it works great otherwise, it's good for holding the ballast (although I still use glue to hold the excess), and you can shape the edges to make a nice gradual transition between the surrounding scenery and the roadbed, unlike cork which you have to sand. Cork is a little better for a long term or permenant project, but I still like AMI instant roadbed too.
